HOME TEAM LEADER
Reports To: Store Manager
Location: The Conran Shop, 16 Sloane Square, London
Job Type: Full Time, 37.5hrs per week, Permanent
Position Overview
The Home Team Leader is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in leading the Home Accessories team at Sloane Square, ensuring high standards of customer service, product presentation, operational delivery and team performance.
This role will provide day-to-day supervision, coaching and task direction to the Home Accessories team, helping colleagues deliver an informed, warm and commercially focused customer experience. The role will also act as a key holder, with responsibility for opening and closing the store and will undertake duty management responsibilities when required.
The successful candidate will be confident leading from the shop floor, setting clear expectations, supporting colleagues, maintaining strong store standards and ensuring that the Home Accessories area is well presented, commercially effective and aligned with The Conran Shop brand.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Supervision
- Support the Store Manager in the day-to-day supervision of the Home Accessories team.
- Lead by example on the shop floor, demonstrating excellent customer service, strong product knowledge and professional standards.
- Allocate daily tasks clearly and fairly, ensuring colleagues understand priorities and expectations.
- Support, coach and motivate team members to deliver strong performance and a positive customer experience.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to colleagues in a professional and supportive manner.
- Help create a respectful, collaborative and inclusive team environment.
- Support new starters with onboarding, product familiarisation and store ways of working.
- Escalate performance, conduct, attendance or wellbeing concerns to the Store Manager where appropriate.
Customer Experience and Sales
- Deliver an exceptional customer experience in line with The Conran Shop’s service standards.
- Ensure the Home Accessories team provides knowledgeable, confident and engaging product advice.
- Support customers with product enquiries, gifting, styling, availability, pricing, ordering and aftercare.
- Encourage the team to identify customer needs and support conversion through thoughtful product recommendations.
- Handle customer queries, feedback and complaints professionally, escalating where required.
- Support the achievement of store sales targets, conversion, average transaction value and other relevant KPIs.
- Maintain awareness of bestsellers, newness, stock availability and commercial opportunities within Home Accessories.

Home Accessories Department Ownership
- Take day-to-day ownership of the Home Accessories area, ensuring it is consistently well presented, clean, replenished and commercially laid out.
- Monitor stock levels, product availability and presentation standards throughout the trading day.
- Work with the Store Manager and Visual Merchandising team to maintain displays, seasonal stories and product focus areas.
- Ensure pricing, product information and point-of-sale materials are accurate and customer-ready.
- Identify opportunities to improve product placement, customer engagement and category performance.
- Communicate product feedback, customer trends and operational challenges to the Store Manager.
- Support stock movement, replenishment, markdowns, launches and promotional activity as required.
Key Holder and Duty Management
- Act as a nominated key holder for the Sloane Square store.
- Open and close the store in line with Company procedures, ensuring security, safety and operational checks are completed.
- Undertake duty management responsibilities when required, including overseeing the shop floor, responding to issues and ensuring the smooth running of the store.
- Ensure daily store routines are completed, including opening checks, closing checks, handovers, till procedures and security checks.
- Respond appropriately to incidents, customer concerns, maintenance issues or operational matters during duty management periods.
- Maintain a visible leadership presence on the shop floor during duty management shifts.
- Ensure any issues arising during duty management are communicated clearly to the Store Manager.
Store Operations and Compliance
- Support the Store Manager in maintaining strong operational standards across the store.
- Ensure Company policies, procedures and store operating standards are followed.
- Support cash handling, till procedures, refunds, exchanges and other transactional processes where required.
- Assist with stock deliveries, stock takes, stock accuracy and stockroom organisation.
- Support health and safety, fire safety, security and loss prevention procedures.
- Ensure the team follows manual handling, customer service, data protection and operational requirements.
- Maintain accurate communication through store handovers, task lists and relevant systems.
- Use Company systems, including Shopify, NetSuite and Microsoft Office, as required for store operations and customer service.

- Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, managers and support office teams.

- Share product updates, customer feedback and operational information with the team.
- Work collaboratively with Furniture, Lighting, Visual Merchandising, Stock Operations and other store teams.
- Support a consistent, respectful and positive culture across the Sloane Square store.
- Act as a role model for Company values and expected behaviours.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous retail experience, ideally within home, design, lifestyle, interiors, furniture, lighting or premium retail.
- Experience supervising, coordinating or leading a team.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to build rapport and deliver an elevated customer experience.
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of sales, conversion, retail KPI’s and shop floor standards.
- Strong interest in design, interiors, home accessories and product storytelling.
- Confident communicator with the ability to give clear direction and constructive feedback.
- Organised and proactive, with the ability to prioritise tasks in a busy retail environment.
- Comfortable taking responsibility as a key holder and duty manager.
- Reliable, calm and professional when dealing with operational issues or customer concerns.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high presentation standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively with store colleagues and wider business teams.
- Confident using retail systems and Microsoft Office; experience with Shopify and NetSuite would be advantageous.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends, bank holidays and key trading periods.
