Homeless Assessment and Support Team
About The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Homeless Assessment and Support services for a Full-time Homeless Assessment Officer on a fixed-term contract until 31/10/2027. The Homeless Assessment and Support services team are a dynamic and focused team who seek to provide comprehensive housing advice and interventions to prevent and alleviate homelessness.
The post holder will be required to be the first point of contact for customers accessing the service in a number of different ways, this can be direct presentation to the service over the telephone, in writing, or via our online access portal.

A key area of the role is assisting customers with self-help and, where necessary, identifying solutions to housing problems, sourcing and providing positive prevention outcomes, and helping people to secure and sustain suitable accommodation. Homeless Assessment Officers are also required to fulfill the council's Legal Obligations in relation to statutory responsibilities in line with current Legislation and Guidance along with the Council's policy and procedures.

This Role Requires Someone Who Has
- The ability to interpret and apply homeless legislation
- Experience of providing housing and homelessness advice along with preventing homelessness
- Knowledge of the different types of housing options available
- Ability to work flexibly and place the customer at the center of service delivery
- Working knowledge of Information Technology
Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis.
