3 Months Contract with a Local Authority
Umbrella - £28.30 per hour
Job Purpose
As a Homeless Housing Coordinator, you will work within Enfield Council's Initial Assessment Team, helping residents who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. You will carry out homelessness assessments, provide housing advice, prevent homelessness wherever possible, and support customers in securing sustainable housing solutions.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- Conduct initial homelessness assessments.
- Assess applications under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
- Prevent and relieve homelessness through early intervention.
- Provide housing advice and homelessness guidance.
- Identify suitable housing options for applicants.
- Support customers to remain in their current accommodation where possible.
- Assist individuals and families to access private rented accommodation.
- Carry out homelessness decision-making in accordance with legislation and case law.
- Assess eligibility, housing needs, and homelessness duties.
- Work closely with partner agencies and support services.
- Provide welfare benefits advice and guidance.
- Manage complex homelessness and housing cases.
- Liaise with landlords, solicitors, support agencies, and housing providers.
- Deal with possession proceedings, evictions, and court-related housing matters.
- Maintain accurate case records and documentation.
- Safeguard vulnerable adults and children where required.

Essential Experience Required
- Previous experience working as a Homelessness Officer, Housing Options Officer, Housing Needs Officer, Homeless Prevention Officer, or similar.
- Extensive experience conducting homelessness assessments.
- Strong knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
- Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation and housing law.
- Experience making homelessness decisions.
- Experience dealing with possession orders and evictions.
- Experience providing housing options advice.
- Experience preventing and relieving homelessness.
- Experience supporting vulnerable households.
- Knowledge of welfare benefits and housing support.
- Experience working within a Local Authority Housing Service.
- Strong case management and report-writing skills.

Essential Qualifications Required
- Relevant Housing or Homelessness experience.
- Right to Work in the UK.
Additional Information to Note
- Working hours: 35 hours per week.
- Monday to Friday.
- 09:00 - 17:00.
- Location: Edmonton Green Library, Enfield.
- Closing Date: 1st November 2026.
- Experience in homelessness assessments and decision-making is essential.
- We work on bi-weekly payment schedule.
