Role Description
The Homelessness Review Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Maidstone, responsible for conducting statutory reviews of homelessness decisions in line with relevant housing legislation and guidance. The role involves:

- Assessing casework and evidence
- Drafting clear and legally robust review decision letters
- Liaising with local authorities, housing providers, and other stakeholders

Day-to-day tasks include:
- Analyzing complex housing situations
- Providing impartial and reasoned decisions
- Offering guidance on options and entitlements to referring bodies
The role also requires:
- Contributing to best practice
- Sharing insights with colleagues
- Supporting continuous improvement in homelessness review processes
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation, statutory guidance, and related case law, ideally with experience in homelessness reviews or housing advice.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to evaluate complex evidence, balance competing factors, and produce clear, well-reasoned written decisions.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft structured legal correspondence and communicate outcomes sensitively and professionally.
- Effective case management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize workloads, meet statutory timescales, and maintain accurate and compliant records.
- Proficient IT skills, including use of case management systems, document management tools, and standard office software.
- Commitment to fairness, equality, and non-discriminatory practice when dealing with individuals and organizations affected by homelessness.
- Experience working in housing, local government, legal services, or a related field is highly beneficial.
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g., law, housing studies, social policy, or similar) or equivalent practical experience.
