Company Description

Eurolingua Institute SA offers one-to-one language homestay immersion programs abroad in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish, exclusively in countries where these languages are spoken nationally. Learners live for 1 to 4 weeks in the home of a qualified Eurolingua Homestay Tutor, gaining total linguistic and cultural immersion. Programs include quality accommodation, all family meals, local visits, and excursions, creating a rich environment for language practice. Participants receive 15 to 25 hours of structured language lessons per week, combined with social and cultural activities and interaction with the tutor’s family and friends. The institute focuses on helping learners return home with significantly improved fluency and cultural understanding.

Role Description

The Homestay Language Tutor is a full-time remote role, providing immersive language instruction from their own home in a country where the target language is spoken. Day-to-day tasks include:

The tutor hosts learners as part of their household, participates in shared meals, and accompanies learners on local visits and excursions that reinforce language and cultural learning. The role also involves:

  • Assessing learner needs
  • Monitoring progress
  • Adjusting teaching methods to suit individual goals and proficiency levels

Tutors are expected to maintain a welcoming, safe, and inclusive home environment throughout each homestay.

Qualifications

  • Strong language teaching and tutoring abilities, with experience in one-to-one or small-group instruction.
  • Fluency (native or near-native) in at least one of the program languages (English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, or Spanish) and clear, comprehensible speech.
  • Skills in lesson planning, curriculum organization, and adapting teaching materials to different proficiency levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal, cross-cultural communication, and hospitality skills to support learners living in the tutor’s home.
  • Ability to organize local cultural activities, excursions, and informal practice opportunities in the surrounding community.
  • Reliable internet connection and basic digital communication skills for coordination with Eurolingua Institute SA and learners.
  • Previous teaching experience, language teaching qualifications (e.g., TEFL, CELTA, or national teaching certification), or a relevant degree in languages, education, or linguistics is highly beneficial.
  • Commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and non-discriminatory environment for learners of diverse backgrounds.
