The Bloom Clinical Academy Honorary Assistant Psychologist Programme offers an exceptional opportunity to gain meaningful, hands-on experience within a highly specialist multidisciplinary neurodevelopmental service.

This Unique Programme Has Been Designed To Provide Aspiring Psychologists With Exposure To Areas Of Practice That Are Often Difficult To Access, Including

  • Neurodevelopmental diagnostics
  • Autism assessment
  • ADHD assessment
  • Trauma and attachment-informed practice
  • Psychometric assessment
  • Multidisciplinary working
  • Specialist report writing
  • Clinical formulation
  • Child and adolescent mental health presentations

Working alongside experienced clinicians, you will gain valuable insight into specialist assessment pathways whilst developing the practical skills and experience required for future postgraduate training applications.

You Will Gain Exposure To

Neurodevelopmental Diagnostics

  • Autism assessments
  • ADHD assessments
  • Specialist Trauma and Attachment Assessments under the ASGSF
  • Developmental Coordination Disorder (Dyspraxia) assessments
  • Multidisciplinary diagnostic meetings
  • Clinical formulation and decision-making processes

Trauma and Attachment

You Will Observe And Learn From Clinicians Specialising In

  • Developmental trauma
  • Attachment difficulties
  • Complex presentations
  • Trauma-informed assessment and intervention approaches

Specialist Psychometric Assessment

You will support clinicians with the administration, scoring and interpretation processes associated with a range of standardised measures and assessment tools.

Clinical Experience Within a Specialist MDT

A key feature of the programme is direct exposure to multidisciplinary working.

This provides a unique opportunity to understand how different professional perspectives contribute to high-quality neurodevelopmental assessment and intervention.

Dedicated Supervision and Professional Development

All Honorary Assistant Psychologists/Clinical Assistants Will Receive

Monthly Clinical Supervision

Regular supervision will be provided by a Specialist Clinical Psychologist, offering opportunities to:

  • Reflect on clinical experiences
  • Develop formulation skills
  • Explore professional development goals
  • Discuss applications for postgraduate training
  • Build confidence in psychological thinking and practice

Additional Learning Opportunities

You Will Also Have Access To

Exposure to nationally recognised training events delivered by Bloom Clinical

Responsibilities

Depending on experience and service needs, duties may include:

  • Supporting clinicians during assessment pathways
  • Assisting with psychometric administration and scoring
  • Data collection and outcome monitoring
  • Supporting report preparation
  • Literature reviews and evidence gathering
  • Clinical administration tasks
  • Developing clinical resources
  • Supporting service development projects
  • Assisting with audit and research activities

Location and Working Pattern

This is a flexible hybrid opportunity.

Successful candidates will be expected to attend face-to-face clinical sessions across:

Who We Are Looking For

Essential

  • Psychology graduate (minimum 2:1 preferred)
  • Strong interest in neurodevelopmental conditions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work professionally within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to learning and professional development

Highly Desirable

  • Previous Assistant Psychologist experience
  • Experience working with children and young people
  • Experience supporting neurodivergent individuals
  • Knowledge of autism and ADHD assessment pathways
  • Understanding of trauma-informed approaches
  • Research experience
  • Experience administering psychometric assessments
  • Experience in education, CAMHS, community, or healthcare settings
