GRIFFIN NURSERIES LIMITED is a wholesale production nursery located on the border of Hampshire and West Sussex, supplying plants across the UK. The team supplies garden designers, landscapers, and estates sourcing and growing trees, topiary specimens, shrubs, and herbaceous plants year-round. The company is committed to providing high-quality plants tailored to client projects.
Role Description
The Horticultural Field Nursery Supervisor is a full-time, on-site role based in Milland. This role will oversee day-to-day nursery operations, with a strong emphasis on machinery.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervising and supporting nursery staff
- Organizing workloads
- Ensuring safe and efficient use of equipment and facilities
- Maintaining stock records
- Implementing quality standards
- Supporting continuous improvement across the nursery

The supervisor will use their own initiative without supervision. 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with seasonal overtime paid at time and a half.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Supervising daily nursery activities and supporting team members on site
- Operating machinery as part of day-to-day nursery operations
- Supporting general nursery work across seasonal demands
- Ensuring work is completed safely and to expectation
- Daily machinery maintenance checks
Required for the Role
- Practical horticultural knowledge and practical experience on a nursery
- Supervisory or team leadership experience with the ability to organize workloads and motivate staff
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform hands-on physical tasks safely
- Good communication and record-keeping skills, including the ability to implement procedures and work effectively with colleagues
- Knowledge of health and safety practices in a nursery or agricultural setting
- Full, valid driving license and reliable transport to Milland is a must

Experience operating machinery:
- Tractor driving experience
- Telehandlers and forklifts
- Tree lifter operating experience
Desirable attributes:
- Reliable, hands-on, and a team player
- Experience with nursery tree work
- An organized and methodical approach to work
