Overview of the Role:
RHS Garden Rosemoor is an enchanting garden set in the beautiful Torridge Valley, designed to provide year round interest and inspiration to all gardeners and garden lovers.
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join our edibles team helping to care for our inspirational Fruit and Vegetable Garden, vibrant potager, orchards and Learning gardens. Growing a wide and diverse range of crops, using traditional and modern techniques to create year-round displays to inspire our visitors, whether they are new to gardening or seasoned growers there is something for everyone, whilst creating a visual spectacle to wow. Growing over 450 different varieties of vegetable, alongside trialling new ones for the RHS Recommend Award of Garden merit. Rosemoor is home to two orchards, containing over 150 different apple varieties, from around the world and Devon Heritage Orchard one of our Plant Heritage National Collections full of rare and unique apples. We are looking for a passionate grower with an eye for detail who will care for the plants from seed right through to harvest. Nothing is wasted, our harvests are turned into mouth watering dishes by our resident chef for our visitors to enjoy, or go on to become juices, ciders and tempting preserves for sale through our retail outlets.

You will be responsible for the care, cultivation and maintenance of areas within our Edibles section, helping to further develop and enhance the garden with various new and exciting projects. You will provide guidance to apprentices, professional work placement students and volunteers and helping to deliver outstanding customer service to our visitors. You should have a good general knowledge of growing fruit and vegetables along with the ability to lead or work as part of a team. Once settled in the team to have the confidence to deliver walks and talks engaging with our visitors.
You should hold an RHS Level 2 Certificate in Horticulture or equivalent and be familiar with a range of standard horticulture techniques, with proven practical experience in horticulture, which may be acceptable in lieu of a formal qualification.
