What You'll Do
As a hospice licensed practical/vocational nurse (LPN/LVN), you will provide compassionate nursing care that helps patients remain comfortable throughout their end-of-life journey.
You will:
- Provide skilled nursing care based on each patient’s individualized plan of care
- Administer medications and treatments and monitor patient response
- Identify and communicate changes in a patient’s condition
- Educate and support patients and families with medications, medical equipment and care needs
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation
Working alongside your team, you will give your best each day in service of our core commitment: Delivering compassionate, personalized care with heartfelt empathy, honoring the wishes of each patient who entrusts VITAS with their end-of-life journey.

Depending on your assignment, you may provide care in patients’ homes, assisted living/skilled nursing facilities or other hospice care settings.
Some roles may include travel within an assigned service area, on-call responsibilities or after-hours patient and family support.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved practical or vocational nursing program
- Current LPN/LVN license in the state where you will practice
- At least one year of nursing experience; hospice, home health, hospital or community health experience preferred
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and required auto insurance for roles providing in-person care
Additional licensure may be required for certain telephonic or after-hours assignments.
