Job Purpose / About the Role

The Hospital Account Manager is responsible for developing and growing long-term commercial partnerships with NHS hospitals and healthcare providers through proactive account management, consultative selling, and exceptional customer service.

Working closely with the wider Commercial Team, you will take ownership of an assigned portfolio of hospital accounts, developing strategic account plans, identifying opportunities for growth, and supporting customers with appropriate pharmaceutical products and services across Qmed's portfolio.

Following a structured onboarding program, you will initially develop expertise across selected areas of Qmed's pharmaceutical portfolio while building relationships with your assigned customers. As your knowledge and experience develop, you will progressively support customers across Qmed's wider portfolio of pharmaceutical products and services.

The role combines strategic account management with commercial sales activity, focusing on increasing customer lifetime value through trusted partnerships, portfolio growth, and outstanding customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

Account Management & Customer Development

  • Take ownership of an assigned portfolio of NHS hospital accounts.
  • Develop and maintain strategic account plans for each customer.
  • Build trusted relationships with Pharmacy Procurement Teams, Chief Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, and other key healthcare stakeholders.
  • Understand each customer's pharmaceutical requirements, procurement processes, and future objectives.
  • Conduct regular customer reviews to strengthen relationships and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Act as the primary commercial contact for assigned customers.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service through proactive communication and relationship management.
  • Improve customer retention, satisfaction, and long-term customer value.

Sales & Commercial Growth

  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue, gross profit, and customer lifetime value within existing accounts.
  • Introduce appropriate pharmaceutical products and services based on customer requirements.
  • Cross-sell Qmed's wider portfolio of products and services.
  • Support customers during medicines shortages by identifying appropriate pharmaceutical supply solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to develop new customer relationships where appropriate.
  • Achieve agreed sales, gross profit, and commercial KPIs.
  • Contribute to the continued growth of Qmed's commercial business.

Customer & Market Intelligence

  • Monitor customer requirements, market trends, and emerging healthcare needs.
  • Gather customer insight to support future product and service development.
  • Monitor competitor activity and market developments.
  • Share market intelligence with Procurement, Commercial, and Product teams.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen Qmed's commercial offering.

Operational & Commercial Support

  • Work collaboratively with Procurement, Sales Operations, Production, Quality Assurance, Product portfolio Managers, and Finance to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
  • Support the wider Commercial Team in delivering excellent customer service and operational performance.
  • Assist with commercial administration, customer order management, and account support activities where required to maintain service levels.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, customer information, commercial documentation, and account plans.
  • Support quotations, customer communications, forecasting, and pipeline management activities.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of commercial processes, systems, and ways of working.
  • Work flexibly across the Commercial function, supporting evolving business priorities and organizational growth.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the responsibilities and level of the role.

Reporting & Performance

  • Monitor account performance against agreed KPIs.
  • Produce regular account reviews and pipeline reports.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer retention and portfolio growth.
  • Support forecasting and commercial planning activities.
  • Contribute to data-driven commercial decision-making through accurate reporting.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in pharmaceutical sales, healthcare sales, account management, or a customer-facing commercial role.
  • Demonstrable experience developing and maintaining long-term customer relationships.
  • Experience growing existing customer accounts.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel throughout the UK.

Desirable

  • Experience working with NHS hospitals or healthcare providers.
  • Experience within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences sector.
  • Understanding of NHS procurement processes.
  • Experience using CRM systems.
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical supply chains.

Type of Employment & Location

Location: Stratford, London (Hybrid)

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. Regular travel to NHS hospitals and healthcare providers throughout the UK will be required.
