About the Role

Sharpak Healthcare supplies Sharpak Zero, a reusable sharps container system, to NHS hospital trusts across the UK. Sharpak Zero is available through NHS Supply Chain at the same cost as single-use containers, needs no change to a trust's existing supply or collection process, and cuts the carbon and plastic associated with sharps disposal — which is why reusable sharps containers are named as a priority in the NHS Clinical Waste Strategy.

This role supports the Business Development Manager in building and converting the pipeline of new Sharpak Zero hospital business — and then owns the relationship once a trust has converted. You will be involved across the whole customer journey: early meetings and information gathering, audits and trials, formal product evaluations, the conversion itself, and the ongoing day-to-day account management that follows.

Account management is at the heart of this role. Winning a trust is only the start — keeping it, and growing it, depends on being the person the waste team, procurement, ward managers and clinical leads know they can call. It is a hands-on, field-based job with a lot of variety and a lot of autonomy.

What You'll Be Doing

Building the pipeline

  • Assisting the Business Development Manager to build the pipeline of new Sharpak Zero hospital business.
  • Attending meetings and presenting to key decision makers and key influencers — waste and sustainability managers, procurement, estates and facilities, infection prevention and control, senior nurses, department managers and clinical leads.
  • Information gathering: current container usage, sizes and volumes, waste flows, collection arrangements and the incumbent supplier.
  • Carbon and cost reporting for prospective and existing customers, using trust usage data and our approved calculation method.
  • Carrying out site audits and supporting trials, and feeding findings back to the Business Development Manager and the wider team.

Product evaluations

  • Coordinating and managing product evaluations in hospitals from start to finish.
  • Setting up each evaluation — scope, clinical areas, duration, container and accessory mix, stock and success measures agreed with the trust.
  • Training clinical and support staff so the product is used correctly and safely throughout.
  • Providing onsite support for the duration of the evaluation — being visible, available and quick to resolve issues.
  • Gathering feedback from users and stakeholders, and writing up clear product evaluation reports with conclusions and recommendations.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Managing conversions

  • Coordinating and managing the conversion process when a trust converts to the Sharpak product.
  • Owning the practical set-up: equipment and accessory specification, brackets and wall fixings, NHS Supply Chain ordering codes, buffer stock and installation scheduling.
  • Delivering and coordinating the training plan across clinical, portering, logistics and waste teams.
  • Coordinating the wider team brought in to assist with conversions — colleagues, rollout trainers, waste-management partners and trust staff — so everyone knows their part and the timeline holds.
  • Problem-solving when things don't go to plan, taking ownership of issues on site and finding practical solutions.
  • Monitoring progress through the rollout and completing post-implementation review and audit activity.

Account management and growth

  • Being the responsible day-to-day account manager once the trust has converted, and the customer's first point of contact.
  • Dealing with queries as they arise, promptly and through to resolution.
  • Providing both routine and ad hoc training — new starters, ward moves, refresher sessions — so correct use is sustained after go-live.
  • Carrying out routine and ad hoc audits, including container fill levels, segregation compliance and correct product placement, and using the findings to drive improvement conversations.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key decision makers and influencers in the trust — account management is key to this role, so that when we win an account we keep it.
  • Identifying opportunities for further expansion of Sharpak sales growth within existing accounts — further wards, sites, departments, sizes and accessories.
  • Keeping accurate records of customer activity, contacts, visits, training, audits and opportunities.

  • Experience of clinical waste, infection prevention and control, medical devices or consumables sold into NHS trusts.
  • Strong familiarity with UK NHS hospital trust rules, procedures, and ward etiquette.

The Detail

Working pattern

Full days on hospital sites while an evaluation, conversion or account visit is live. Hospital hours are typically 8.30 to 4.30, but this varies and there is an occasional requirement to work outside these hours to reach clinical staff at shift-change handover meetings, which can be 7.30am or 7.30pm.

Travel

Regular travel across the Home Counties / South of England, with wider UK travel and occasional overnight stays as the account base grows. A full UK driving licence required.

Team

Reports to the Business Development Manager and works alongside our clinical rollout trainers, product specialists and waste-management partners during conversions.

Induction

Full product and process induction at our Littlehampton manufacturing site, plus time on site with live evaluations and conversions before taking accounts on independently.

Compliance

An enhanced DBS check must be in place before starting on site.
