Data Analyst – Staff Optimisation / Hospitality
London | Hybrid, 2 days per week | £550 to £700 per day | Outside IR35
A contract Data Analyst role working on a major staff optimisation and productivity programme across a large, multi site hospitality business.
This isn’t a general Data Analyst role. The key is having experience using data to understand staffing levels, rotas, wage costs and sales, then helping individual sites improve productivity without impacting customer service.
What you’ll be doing
- Looking at staff /labour productivity across multiple sites and identifying where improvements can be made
- Analysing wage costs, sales per staff hour, staffing levels and shift patterns
- Using sales and demand data to understand how many people sites need and when
- Improving reporting around staff costs, productivity, rotas and scheduling
- Identifying and sizing opportunities to improve productivity
- Working closely with Finance, Operations, General Managers and the Data team
- Helping sites understand where they can improve and what changes they can actually make

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The key is being able to show where you’ve used data to improve staffing, wage costs or productivity across multiple sites, rather than simply producing reports.
