The Role
The postholder will assist the Hospitality Education Manager with the development, implementation, and delivery of the Hospitality Education Programme at Dumfries House Estate. Based at the Cook School, the postholder will deliver high-quality educational experiences, including school workshops and short courses. Opportunities to creatively and practically support the education programme across other curriculum areas will be available, including STEM, Farming, and Horticulture.
Key Tasks
Specific Duties will include:
- Designing and delivering workshops, activities, and training to a variety of age groups and abilities.
- Designing and evaluating workshops, activities, and training that are in line with the aims and vision of the curriculum area.
- Seeking opportunities to build and maintain relationships with industry partners.
- Preparing and maintaining equipment and facilities to a high standard prior to and following education activity; monitoring and requesting stock as appropriate.
- Carrying out, and reviewing risk assessments for education activities, following procedures for first aid and incident reporting.

Person Specification
The essential skills, knowledge, and experience required are:
- Track record of professional or educational delivery experience in hospitality front or back-of-house skillsets.
- Prior experience educating and engaging with varied learners through hospitality activities.
- Experience working with young people, developing and delivering educational experiences.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and the ability to work proactively and flexibly to achieve set objectives.
- The ability to work well within a team, maintaining positive relationships with the wider education and Dumfries House Estate staff.
- Able to represent the King’s Foundation professionally at all times in media and/or to stakeholders.
- Legal right to work in the UK.

Other
The post will be based at Dumfries House Estate, Cumnock, KA18 2NJ, with the requirement to travel on occasion. Willingness to work occasional weekends or evenings as required for education or wider estate events, with a Time off in Lieu (TOIL) system in place. Variable hours contract. Salary: Dependent on Experience. You must have the legal right to work in the UK. This post is considered to be a regulated activity, therefore, any offer will be subject to a satisfactory disclosure check with the Disclosure Scotland.
