Job Description

Step into a role that blends warm, intuitive hospitality with the quiet magic of the Lake District. As a Host at the Gilpin Lake House, you’ll be the welcoming presence at our private sanctuary — a serene hideaway where guests come to unwind, reconnect, and experience luxury in its most personal form.

You’ll help shape the atmosphere of this exclusive retreat: calm, comforting, and beautifully curated. From thoughtful arrivals to seamless, heartfelt service throughout each stay, you’ll ensure every guest feels truly at home in our secluded lakeside haven.

💫 Your Role as Host:

  • Welcomes and hosts guests with genuine warmth, offering a calm, confident presence from arrival to departure. Ensure every interaction feels personal, intuitive, and quietly exceptional.
  • Coordinates guest journeys by overseeing the rhythm of the day across breakfast service, housekeeping flow, afternoon tea, spa movements, guest requests, and evening turndown, ensuring seamless transitions and serene surroundings.
  • Carries out housekeeping resets, amenity replenishment, public-area presentation to ensure all operations run smoothly.
  • Collaborates with Spa, Estates and Housekeeping and works closely with internal teams to maintain immaculate spaces, respond to maintenance needs, and uphold the property’s signature standards of calm, order, and understated luxury.
  • Acts as a lead for private events, celebrations, and exclusives, partnering with the Front Office Team to deliver perfectly executed occasions with thoughtful detail and effortless service.
  • Anticipates guest needs, responds to requests with grace, and resolves issues discreetly, ensuring comfort, privacy, and a sense of being genuinely cared for.
  • Upholds our brand promise of quiet luxury, privacy, and heartfelt care - and consistently elevates the guest experience through thoughtful touches.

Qualifications

  • A natural flair for hosting and a passion for creating memorable guest journeys.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and pride in presentation.
  • Confidence working solo and as part of a close-knit team.
  • Flexibility, initiative, and a calm, professional presence.
  • Previous hospitality experience preferred, but personality and attitude are equally important.
  • This role does require a balance of practical 'roll your sleeves up' housekeeping, waiting on, reception, events and everything in between. To excel in this role you'll be a genuine all-rounder.

Salary:

  • from £26,624 to £28,704
  • Gratuities are allocated on a points basis, depending on development tiers. Although variable, average levels are projected as being from £234 to £526 per month.

Hours:

  • 40 hours per week.
