Job Description
Step into a role that blends warm, intuitive hospitality with the quiet magic of the Lake District. As a Host at the Gilpin Lake House, you’ll be the welcoming presence at our private sanctuary - a serene hideaway where guests come to unwind, reconnect, and experience luxury in its most personal form.
Salary: £26,624 – £28,704 per year
Gratuities: £234 – £526 per month (average)

As Host, you’ll help shape the atmosphere of this secluded haven - ensuring every arrival, every moment, and every detail feels quietly exceptional. This role blends hosting, housekeeping, waiting on, reception, events, and everything in between, ideal for someone who thrives as a genuine all‑rounder.

You’ll coordinate the rhythm of the day, maintain immaculate spaces, support internal teams, and deliver thoughtful, intuitive service that makes guests feel truly at home.
💫 Your Role as Host:
- Welcomes and hosts guests with genuine warmth, offering a calm, confident presence from arrival to departure, ensuring every interaction feels personal and quietly exceptional.
- Oversees the flow of the day across breakfast service, housekeeping movements, afternoon tea, spa schedules, guest requests, and evening turndown to ensure seamless transitions and serene surroundings.
- Carries out housekeeping resets, amenity replenishment, and public‑area presentation to maintain immaculate spaces and smooth operations.
- Works closely with Spa, Estates, and Housekeeping teams to uphold the property’s signature standards of calm, order, and understated luxury.
- Acts as a lead for private events, celebrations, and exclusives, partnering with Front Office to deliver perfectly executed occasions with thoughtful detail.
- Anticipates guest needs, responds with grace, and resolves issues discreetly, ensuring comfort, privacy, and a sense of being genuinely cared for.
- Upholds our promise of quiet luxury, privacy, and heartfelt care, consistently elevating the guest experience through thoughtful touches.
Qualifications

- A natural flair for hosting and creating memorable guest journeys.
- Impeccable attention to detail and pride in presentation.
- Confidence working solo and within a close knit team.
- Flexibility, initiative, and a calm, professional presence.
- Previous hospitality experience preferred, though personality and attitude are equally important.
- A willingness to embrace a varied role across hosting, housekeeping, waiting on, reception, and events.

Salary: from £26,624 to £28,704
Gratuities are allocated on a points basis, depending on development tiers. Although variable, average levels are projected as being from £234 to £526 per month.
Hours: 40 hours per week.
