Job Description
We are seeking an exceptional Host / Hostess to join the pre-opening team of Delano London. As one of the first and last people our guests meet at Lana Lusa, you'll set the tone for the experience with warmth, confidence and an instinctive understanding of how to make people feel recognised and welcome.
What you'll do...
- Welcome every guest warmly and confidently, creating a strong first impression from the moment they arrive.
- Manage reservations, walk-ins, waitlists and table allocations while balancing guest preferences with the flow of the restaurant.
- Use the reservation system accurately, maintaining clear guest profiles, notes, preferences and booking information.
- Recognise VIPs, regulars, celebrations and special requests and communicate relevant details to managers and the floor team.
- Manage telephone and in-person enquiries professionally and provide accurate information about menus, opening times and the wider Food & Beverage offer.
- Coordinate closely with the Restaurant Manager and floor team to understand table status, pacing and availability.
- Escort and seat guests with confidence and ensure menus and initial touchpoints are delivered smoothly.
- Handle waiting guests thoughtfully, keeping them informed and working with the team to minimise delays.
- Support guest feedback and service recovery by identifying concerns early and involving management when needed.
- Maintain the reception area, menus and guest-facing materials in immaculate condition.
- Support Rose Bar, Private Dining and other Food & Beverage reception needs when required.
- Follow guest privacy, data protection, Health & Safety and company procedures.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
