THE ROOF GARDENS
The Roof Gardens is a social club in the sky, 100 feet above the streets of Kensington. Close to an acre of private gardens with views across London to the horizon, The Roof Gardens is a new generation members club.
A place of escape, bursting with wildflowers, olive and mulberry trees, grassy lawns and hidden nooks. An Art Deco gem created in 1938, The Roof Gardens has a legendary legacy. The Roof Gardens’ community is united by open-mindedness, optimism and kindness, not defined by background.
The Role
We’re looking for a warm, confident and charismatic Host to join our Front of House team. As one of the first and last points of contact for our members and their guests, you’ll create a warm and memorable welcome, ensuring every arrival feels effortless and personal.
You’ll build genuine relationships with members, manage arrivals and guest flow, assist with enquiries and reservations, and work closely with the wider team to deliver a seamless experience throughout the Club.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Maître D with the daily hosting operation, including pre-service preparation, bookings and guest flow.
- Welcome, greet and seat Members and guests warmly, confidently and professionally.
- Assist with managing the reservation book, including bookings, cancellations, late arrivals, no-shows and walk-ins.
- Maintain accurate booking information, Member preferences and special requests on SevenRooms.
- Support seating plans, table allocations and the smooth flow of guests throughout service.
- Recognise regular Members and ensure VIPs and special guests receive a discreet and personalised welcome.
- Handle guest queries confidently, supporting service recovery and escalating issues where appropriate.
- Communicate clearly with the Maître D and wider Restaurant and Front of House teams.
- Support colleagues during busy services, large bookings and events.
- Maintain high standards of presentation, professionalism and cleanliness around the host stand.
- Follow all Club, health & safety and operational procedures while maintaining confidentiality and discretion.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
