Part Time Check In / Box Office / Ticket Office / Host

Established in 1994, our award-winning venues have been hosting events for over 30 years, including comedy, music, drag, podcasts, talks/Q&As, and spoken word. Described by The Guardian as “enormously well-regarded”, we pride ourselves on a commitment to excellence and innovation in live events.

The Venue: The Glee Club Birmingham is one of the longest running comedy clubs in the UK. Our main room has a capacity of 400 seated/600 standing, and is open every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for our weekly comedy nights, as well as being available to hire to some of the biggest names in comedy, music, drag, cabaret, and spoken word 7 days a week.

What We Are Looking For: We are looking for a confident, enthusiastic, organized, and friendly person to join our team as a host/check-in staff.
Pay: £12.80ph + tips and a bonus scheme, paid 4 weekly.
Job Role & Responsibilities:
- Check floor plans and ensure everyone is allocated a seat.
- Use epos (till) system to enter food and drink pre-orders accurately and efficiently.
- Check names off a list and meet and greet customers in a friendly manner when they arrive and assign them their allocated seats, quickly and efficiently.
- Sell tickets on the door.
- Manage any issues with seating/customer requests.
- Manage any issues with food and drink pre-orders.
- Keep managers up to date with no shows, issues, etc.
- File and fill out end of night paperwork correctly.

Things to Know:
- Check-in shifts are short. Typically 2 hr shifts, or 3 hr shifts if there are two shows on.
- We don't provide transport so please make sure you can reliably commute to and from the venue at night.
- It can be quite intense as we have to check in up to 400 people in an hour so confidence is important. (on these shows there would be someone else with you)
