Department: Adults & Community Services
Employment Type: Permanent
Location: Torbay Council
Reporting To: Team Leader
Compensation: £26,427 / year

Description

The Leonard Stocks Centre is a homeless hostel based in Torquay. We offer accommodation to 28 males and females, all of which have experienced street homelessness.

Due to the nature of the service, we require staff to be on site 24/7 and are looking for Concierge staff to join our team. The successful candidate will work two 12-hour shifts per week between the hours of 19:45 - 08:15 on a rota basis.

Whilst on shift, you will work alongside our support workers ensuring that residents are safe and have everything they need. The role includes welcoming residents into the building, health and safety checks, welfare checks, and dealing with any issues.

We have two vacancies available for this role. If you have any questions about the role, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

This post will be carrying out Regulated Activity. As such, the post will require an Enhanced Criminal Record Check plus an additional Barred List Check. The check will reveal any spent and unspent convictions and adult cautions (which have not been filtered), any local Police information, and a check of either the Adult, Child, or Adult and Child Barred Lists.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
