POSITION SUMMARY

Actively work on the floors to support daily housekeeping operations and ensure cleanliness standards are consistently met. Inspect guest rooms, corridors, and public areas after cleaning by Room Attendants to verify they meet established quality and presentation standards. Assist in monitoring room status by running sold room reports, identifying discrepancies, prioritising room cleaning needs, and updating the status of departing guest rooms. Maintain a visible presence on guest room floors, offering real-time support and guidance to housekeeping associates throughout the shift. Support Housekeeping Supervisors and Management by coordinating daily tasks and acting as a key link between the housekeeping team and other departments such as Engineering, Front Office, and Laundry. Report and help resolve issues with discrepant rooms in coordination with the Front Office. Assist in the preparation and distribution of room assignments, communicating any updates or changes to the team. Ensure smooth shift transitions by clearly communicating outstanding issues to the next shift. Complete required shift paperwork and documentation as directed.

Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating and coaching employees. Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications. Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards; anticipate and address guests’ service needs; assist individuals with disabilities; thank guests with genuine appreciation. Speak with others using clear and professional language. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards. Move, lift, carry, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 55 pounds without assistance and in excess of 55 pounds with assistance. Ability to push and pull a loaded housekeeping cart and other work-related machinery over sloping and uneven surfaces. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Stand, sit, kneel, or walk for an extended period across an entire work shift. Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Enter and locate work-related information using computers and/or point of sale systems. Read and visually verify information in a variety of formats (e.g., small print). Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

CRITICAL TASKS

Safety and Security

  • Report work-related accidents, or other injuries immediately upon occurrence to manager/senior supervisor.
  • Identify and correct unsafe work procedures or conditions and/or report them to management and security/safety personnel.
  • Follow Hazardous Material Management Program procedures for handling and disposing of chemicals, fertilizer, pesticides, bloodborne pathogens, etc., including using Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Follow company and department safety and security policies and procedures to ensure a clean, safe, and secure environment.
  • Follow property-specific procedures for handling emergency situations (e.g., evacuations, medical emergencies, natural disasters).
  • Maintain awareness of undesirable persons on property premises.
  • Follow policies and procedures for the safe operation and storage of tools, equipment, and machines.
  • Use proper equipment, wear appropriate personal protective clothing (PPE), and employ correct lifting procedures, as necessary, to avoid injury.
  • Complete appropriate safety training and certifications to perform work tasks.

Housekeeping Protocol

  • Identify and report preventative or other maintenance issues in public areas or guest rooms.
  • Contact Engineering or Housekeeping office directly for urgent repairs.
  • Respond promptly to requests from guests, Front Desk, or Guest Service Center requests.
  • Identify room assignments and type of cleaning required for each room.
  • Complete required Housekeeping paperwork, including reports, worksheets, activity logs, and checklists.
  • Document and report outstanding issues that need to be handled to the manager/supervisor after shift is complete.
  • Use checklists to ensure that cleanliness and condition of each assigned area meets designated standards.
  • Select appropriate cleaning chemicals and necessary personal protective equipment for various surfaces and cleaning jobs, following OSHA regulations and corporate standards.
  • Complete incident reports for any incidents or accidents that occur during shift.

Guest Rooms and Suites

  • Enter guest rooms following procedures for gaining access, such as knocking three times, saying "Housekeeping," and ensuring vacancy before entering.
