Maintenance Manager – Large Hotel

London | Up to £65,000 + Bonus + Benefits

300+ Bedroom Hotel | Team of 5–10

JWR is recruiting an experienced Maintenance Manager / Chief Engineer for a large 300+ bedroom full-service hotel in London.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong and hands-on hotel engineering professional to take responsibility for the maintenance and engineering function of a substantial, high-volume property.

Managing a team of 5–10 engineers and maintenance professionals, you will ensure the hotel is maintained to an excellent standard while overseeing planned and reactive maintenance, compliance, contractors, budgets and ongoing improvement projects.

The Role

As Maintenance Manager, you will:

  • Lead, manage and develop a maintenance team of 5–10
  • Oversee all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
  • Maintain bedrooms, public areas, F&B facilities and back-of-house areas
  • Manage mechanical, electrical, plumbing and general building systems
  • Ensure full Health & Safety, fire and statutory compliance
  • Manage external contractors and specialist suppliers
  • Control maintenance expenditure and departmental budgets
  • Support CAPEX, refurbishment and improvement projects
  • Ensure maintenance issues are resolved quickly with minimal impact on guests
  • Maintain accurate engineering, compliance and maintenance records
  • Work closely with the General Manager and senior hotel management team
  • Provide a highly visible, hands-on approach to the operation

The Candidate

We are particularly interested in candidates currently working as a:

  • Maintenance Manager
  • Engineering Manager
  • Chief Engineer
  • Assistant Chief Engineer
  • Senior Maintenance Engineer

You should have:

  • Previous experience within a hotel, hospitality or similarly complex property
  • Experience managing an engineering or maintenance team
  • Strong technical knowledge across mechanical, electrical and general building maintenance
  • Good knowledge of PPM systems and reactive maintenance
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety, fire safety and statutory compliance
  • Experience managing contractors and suppliers
  • Budget and cost-control experience
  • Exposure to refurbishment and CAPEX projects would be advantageous
  • Strong leadership and team-development skills
  • A practical, hands-on and lead-from-the-front management style
