Hotel Manager

Luxury Hotel Resort
Cornwall
£60,000–£65,000 basic + uncapped performance bonus (OTE c.£70,000+)

GMP Recruitment are delighted to be representing a leading luxury coastal resort in Falmouth in the search for an accomplished Hotel Manager.

This is a high-profile opportunity to lead a well-established destination resort, incorporating luxury accommodation, a thriving food and beverage operation, an award-winning spa and one of Cornwall’s largest health clubs. Reporting to the Resort Director and working closely with the Board, you will take full responsibility for operational performance, commercial growth and guest experience across the property.

The role

As Hotel Manager, you will lead the day-to-day operation of the resort and drive continued improvements across service, standards, profitability and team engagement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Taking full operational responsibility for the hotel and supporting the continued growth of the business.
  • Leading and developing a senior operational team, including Food & Beverage, Kitchen, Front of House, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Spa and Health Club management.
  • Managing a substantial operational workforce of approximately 180 employees.
  • Delivering annual business plans, budgets and agreed revenue and profit targets.
  • Driving sales and maximising guest spend across accommodation, food and beverage, spa treatments, health club and events.
  • Maintaining tight control of payroll, labour ratios, costs, stock and departmental performance.
  • Raising service standards, guest satisfaction, online review performance and repeat business.
  • Building a positive, high-performing culture through coaching, training, recruitment and retention.
  • Ensuring the property is maintained to an exceptional standard, with robust maintenance and housekeeping programmes in place.
  • Ensuring full compliance across health and safety, fire safety, food safety and operational best practice.
  • Championing the resort’s reputation within the local market and supporting future industry awards and recognition.

About you

You will be a commercially astute and highly visible hotel operator with a genuine passion for hospitality and people development.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Hotel Manager, General Manager or Operations Manager within a busy, quality-led hotel or resort.
  • Strong experience across both front-of-house and food and beverage operations.
  • Proven P&L responsibility, budgeting experience and the ability to deliver profit growth.
  • Experience managing a sizeable leisure-focused hotel operation, ideally 40+ bedrooms.
  • A track record of building motivated teams, developing managers and improving staff retention.
  • Excellent commercial awareness, analytical ability and confidence implementing efficient systems and processes.
  • A hands-on, personable leadership style with real presence and the ability to inspire others.
  • High standards, strong attention to detail and a clear understanding of luxury guest expectations.
  • Experience within spa, health club or leisure operations would be highly advantageous, as would a background within a four-star-plus or AA-rated property.

Package

  • £60,000–£65,000 basic salary, depending on experience
  • Uncapped annual performance bonus; OTE circa £70,000+
  • 28 days’ holiday including bank holidays
