The Marine Hotel – Paignton

Situated on a level position, directly opposite Paignton Seafront and a short walk to the town centre, with a free on-site car park, subject to availability, free Wi-Fi within our bar lounge, you couldn’t ask for a better location on the English Riviera to base yourself as you explore.

The Marine hotel has 53 en-suite bedrooms, with dog-friendly rooms available.

The Role - Hotel Manager

Reporting directly to the Cluster General Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of hotel operations, ensuring every department consistently delivers exceptional guest experiences while achieving strong commercial performance.

Working in partnership with the Cluster General Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across the hotel, driving performance, developing talent, and embedding a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence.

This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role where you will lead from the front, supporting your teams, engaging with guests, and setting the standard every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the hotel.
  • Support the Cluster General Manager in delivering the hotel's commercial and strategic objectives.
  • Directly manage, coach, and develop the team.
  • Drive exceptional guest satisfaction through consistent operational excellence.
  • Lead, motivate and inspire teams to achieve outstanding results.
  • Support in managing payroll, labour costs, budgets, and departmental profitability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency while maintaining exceptional guest service.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, brand standards, and all statutory requirements.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive culture where colleagues feel valued, supported and empowered to succeed.

About You

You will be a confident, engaging and commercially minded hotel leader who is passionate about developing people and delivering outstanding hospitality.

To Succeed In This Role, You Will Have

  • Significant senior operational leadership experience
  • Previous experience as a Deputy General Manager or Operations Manager in a full-service hotel.
  • A strong Food & Beverage background is essential.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting, and driving profitability.
  • A hands-on leadership style with the flexibility to support operational teams whenever required.
  • Excellent communication, coaching and relationship-building skills.
  • A proven track record of developing high-performing teams and future leaders.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences and creating a positive workplace culture.
