Operations Manager
Copthorne Tara Hotel London Kensington
Copthorne Tara Hotel London Kensington is seeking a high-impact, experienced Operations Manager to help lead and strengthen the day-to-day running of the hotel.
This is not a passive support role — it is a key leadership opportunity for someone who can drive operational excellence, elevate standards, and support the General Manager in delivering strong commercial and guest-focused results across the business.
With responsibility across Rooms Division, Food & Beverage, and wider hotel operations, this role is ideal for a visible, hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, complex environment and knows how to bring departments together to deliver a seamless guest experience. The role also supports the General Manager in overseeing operational performance and deputising in their absence.
We are looking for someone who can:
- Lead from the front and maintain strong operational control across the hotel
- Drive standards, productivity, service, and profitability
- Build strong relationships across departments and create a culture of teamwork and accountability
- Support Heads of Department to improve performance and guest satisfaction
- Help shape a consistent, well-run, commercially focused operation
Key Responsibilities
- Support and oversee the day-to-day operation of the hotel across key departments
- Deputise for the General Manager and take responsibility for hotel operations in their absence
- Drive productivity, service quality, guest satisfaction, and financial performance
- Work closely with Heads of Department to maintain high standards across Rooms and Food & Beverage
- Monitor operational trends, standards, and systems to ensure the hotel remains competitive
- Support the delivery of budgets, business plans, and operational objectives
- Help control labour and operating costs in line with budget expectations
- Lead by example in creating a positive, guest-focused, and professional culture
- Chair meetings and support the Executive team in achieving key business goals
- Ensure departments are effectively planned, organised, and aligned with the needs of the business
- Promote teamwork and communication across all departments
- Support service improvements, operational initiatives, and changes in procedure where needed
- Oversee guest complaint handling and ensure follow-up actions are completed effectively
- Ensure hotel procedures, standards, and reporting requirements are followed consistently

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
