Lecturer in Photography
The School of Art and Design is looking for an enthusiastic and flexible Hourly Paid Lecturer to join our contemporary, forward-thinking, and high-achieving team.
This position is required for two days per week, working Mondays and Thursdays only, due to the current course timetable.
Working closely with our students, stakeholders, and employers, you will strive for continuous improvement and higher standards for the benefit of the whole community. We aim to do the ordinary things extraordinarily well.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a broad range of skills to predominantly teach on our UAL Level 3 Photography course. You will be delivering both industry skills and knowledge to our eager students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver industry skills and knowledge on the UAL Level 3 Photography course
- Strive for continuous improvement and higher standards
- Enhance learners’ academic journey and prepare them for successful progression into Higher Education and careers within the Photography and wider creative industries

Required Skills:
- Competence in various creative and technical processes such as but not limited to:
- Digital photography and camera techniques
- Studio photography and lighting
- Location photography
- Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom
- Digital image editing and post-production
- Creative and conceptual photography
- Communication and presentation skills
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge and experience of analogue photography, darkroom processes, and contemporary photographic industry practices
Candidate Profile:
- Positive, enthusiastic, resilient, and eager to seek out development opportunities
- Adaptive and flexible teaching style to support and stretch a diverse range of students
- Teaching experience and relevant qualifications are desirable, but we are keen to hear from anyone with the right skills and who is willing to engage in self-development

Additional Information:
- Essential to reflect industry practices and drive course development
- Provide prompt, accurate, and detailed assessment of student work at key stages during the academic year
- Must be available to work on both Mondays and Thursdays
