About The Role

Worksop College and Ranby House is a single school community spread across two sites, educating children aged two to eighteen. The school has excellent facilities in a beautiful setting, and it values every pupil's individual strengths, whether academic, sporting, musical or creative.

As a Household Assistant, you will keep the school's classrooms, offices, boarding accommodation and shared spaces clean, hygienic and safe. You will be part of a friendly household team that keeps the school welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors every day.

What you'll be doing

  • Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing and spray cleaning to the required standard
  • Cleaning classrooms, offices, corridors, stairwells, toilets, washrooms and shower areas
  • Restocking toilet paper, hand towels and cleaning materials
  • Removing rubbish and recycling in line with waste procedures
  • Floor care, including scrubbing, polishing and resealing
  • Laundry duties as directed
  • Using powered cleaning equipment safely, following training and procedures
  • Following health, safety and hygiene rules
  • Reporting defects, damage or safety concerns to the Household Manager
  • Dealing with emergency cleaning, such as spillages or flooding
  • Supporting deeper cleaning of buildings and accommodation during school holidays

What you'll bring

Essential:

  • Experience of cleaning, domestic or facilities work (paid or voluntary)
  • The ability to clean to a high standard and follow set procedures
  • Safe, effective use of cleaning equipment (training provided if needed)
  • Awareness of health, safety and hygiene in the workplace
  • Reliability, punctuality and trustworthiness
  • The ability to work on your own and as part of a team
  • A friendly, approachable and professional manner
  • The physical ability to lift, bend and stand for periods
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Desirable:

  • Experience in a school, boarding or similar setting
  • Experience of using powered cleaning machinery
  • A basic understanding of COSHH regulations
  • Experience of laundry duties

You'll also need to be flexible about extra cleaning during school holidays or special events, and willing to complete training relevant to the role.
