Household Manager

We are seeking an experienced, proactive Household Manager to oversee the organization and smooth operation of a family home in Sloane Square.

This is a unique role supporting a family whose primary residence is in New York City, with the father traveling to London approximately once a month and the family joining him periodically throughout the year. The House Manager will play an important role in ensuring the home remains impeccably organized, well-stocked, and running seamlessly whether the family is in residence or traveling.

The House Manager will report directly to the father’s Senior Operations Manager who will provide overall direction and oversight.

Responsibilities

  • On-call support for the apartment - Check in on London flat once a week
  • Oversight of household staff and vendors, including chef, cleaners, maintenance staff, and flat owners. Coordinating and scheduling of all vendors, contractors, or services requiring access to the apartment.
  • Ensuring the apartment is prepared, organized, and fully stocked with necessary supplies. Ordering supplies when needed.

Home Reset

  • Ensure the home is clean, organized, and stocked prior to a visit.
  • Tidy living spaces and common areas
  • Reset children’s play areas
  • Put away stray items and return belongings to their proper places
  • Prepare the home for the family’s visit
  • Maintain a guest-ready standard whenever possible
  • Keep kitchen, pantry, and surfaces organized
  • Maintain household inventory and proactively restock needed items. Areas to monitor include:
    • Groceries
    • Children’s snacks
    • Household supplies
    • Toiletries
    • Cleaning products
    • Paper goods
    • Pet supplies
    • School supplies
    • Pantry staples
    • Laundry supplies
    • Diapers, wipes, and child-related essentials, if applicable

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of household management or similar private home experience
  • Must have the legal right to work in the UK
  • Must be based in or able to reliably commute to Central London
  • Experience working in high-standard private homes
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Strong errand-running and logistical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A proactive, self-starting approach
  • A calm, warm, discreet, and professional presence
  • Comfort working independently
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong references

Salary & Working Arrangements

  • Compensation: £1,000 per month.
  • Working Hours: This is a flexible consulting position with no set working hours. The amount of time required may vary from week to week and throughout the year depending on the family's schedule, whether family members are in town, and the level of support required.

As a general guide, the role may require approximately 1–5 hours per week during quieter periods, such as when no one is in town, primarily for tasks such as inventory management, purchasing necessary items, and maintaining the household's readiness.

During busier periods, such as when the whole family is in town, the role may require approximately 5–20 hours per week and may include purchasing groceries and other needed items.
