Housekeeper Opportunity at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Housekeeper at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Shrewsbury. This position is to work in the Endoscopy Unit.

We are hoping to recruit into a 22.5-hour position working over a 7-day week.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking Housekeeper who will work as an integral part of the team, ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work under non-direct supervision, prioritizing your own workload.
  • Take ownership of the stock levels within the department, including ordering stock.
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness within the department.
  • Provide non-clinical support to the unit team, carrying out tasks assigned under the supervision of Registered Nurses.
  • Attend necessary meetings, feeding back relevant information, acting within your scope, and sharing responsibilities with Senior staff to enable them to delegate to the appropriate person.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Flexible approach within the role, responding appropriately to the demands of an ever-changing workload.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, liaising with and helping patients throughout the working day.
  • Communicate with all levels of staff both face-to-face and over the telephone.
  • Recent experience in cleaning duties and use of chemicals and equipment is essential.
  • Awareness of health and safety, as you will be working in a demanding environment.
  • IT literate.
  • Previous experience with stock control and the use of oracle is desirable.
  • Applicants with previous experience in a health care setting are desirable.
