Rossendale School are recruiting for a Housekeeper to join our support team! We are looking for passionate people to make sure our sites are safe and comfortable, whilst covering all aspects of housekeeping. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness in the homes and will have a flexible approach and be able to respond quickly to requests for assistance.

About The School

Rossendale is a day school catering for the needs of pupils who are autistic and academically able. All pupils have a draft or final Education, Health and Care Plan.

The School provides education for young people aged from 7-18 years of age. Key stages 3 and 4 are based on the main school site, whilst Key stage 2 and 5 are based at our Campus which is based in the local community. At Key stage 4 and 5 we offer a wide range of GCSE subjects, BTEC Awards, Functional Skills, ASDAN and Entry Level qualifications and A level courses at the sixth form provision. Given the disrupted nature of our pupils’ education, prior to their admission to Rossendale, we have had some outstanding examination results. The school admits both boys and girls.

About The Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep our spaces spotless: Hoovering, wiping surfaces, cleaning sinks, walls and internal windows.
  • Look after shared areas: Daily cleaning of kitchens, bathrooms and the Food Studies Room, plus portacabins and weekly oven cleans.
  • Manage waste efficiently: Empty and clean bins, ensuring areas behind and around them stay tidy.
  • Stay on top of supplies: Replace cloths and tea towels, and refill soaps, hand towels and toilet rolls.
  • Care for our floors: Use the buffer when needed to keep floors looking their best.
  • Additional Support: Provide occasional kitchen support and help with other tasks as directed by the Line Manager.

This role is 25 hours per week - 41 weeks per year, and working hours are 1:30pm til 6:30pm each day. It is essential that the successful candidate for this role is a driver and has access to a vehicle as there is a requirement to support across both our main site and our Rawtenstall Campus.

Role

The successful candidate will have experience of daily cleaning schedules and ensure appropriate paperwork in completed and a good knowledge of health and safety legislation applicable to the role, along with the following characteristics:

  • Communication: During your role your working environment may involve interacting with our young people we support that may display varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties.
  • Organisation: As well as supervising the team, you’ll need to be confident and organised in record keeping, ensuring issues are logged on the internal computer systems and keeping up to date with routine maintenance checks.
  • Attentive: No two jobs will be the same so being attentive to understand them and identify areas where we can support is important.
