Job Overview
An opportunity has arisen to recruit a Housekeeper on a part-time basis to work on the Elective Surgery Hub (SESH) at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The ward is equipped to care for 10-14 inpatients with an extremely busy Day Surgery Unit.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working housekeeper who will work as an integral part of the team ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment at all times.
You will need excellent interpersonal skills, as you will be liaising with and helping patients throughout the working day. You will also be required to communicate with all levels of staff both face to face and over the phone.
The post holder will be required to maintain stock levels and participate in the ordering of stock. You will also be required to maintain a high level of cleanliness within the ward.
Applicants with previous experience in a healthcare setting are desirable, however you will need to demonstrate commitment to developing yourself to support the nursing team in caring for patients and ensuring the patient experience is positive.

Main duties of the job
The role involves helping to keep the ward clean, tidy, and safe, including looking after equipment, beds, and supplies.
- You will support staff by preparing patient areas, giving out meals and drinks, and helping with non-clinical tasks that make patients comfortable.
- You will check stock levels, make sure items are in date, and report any problems to the nursing team.
- You will communicate well with patients, visitors, and staff, answer the phone politely, and pass on messages clearly.
- You will follow Trust policies, attend training, and work as part of the team while always acting in a professional and respectful way.
