Housekeeper Edinburgh

  • Hourly Rate: £13.45
  • Contract: Permanent, 18 hours per week
  • Working Hours: 10am – 6pm, Monday – Friday

About the Role

To support our premium services, we're building a brand new team, including Housekeepers to deliver a luxury, home-from-home cleaning service for our residents' studio apartments whilst ensuring our premium site & facilities are maintained to the highest standards.


Responsibilities

  • Provide an exceptional, personalised room cleaning service to students by ensuring their studios are maintained to a clean, healthy, and presentable standard.
    • Working towards designated schedules, cleaning duties include:
      • Dusting
      • Sweeping
      • Vacuuming
      • Anti-bacterial cleaning of surfaces
      • Making beds
  • Ensure our facilities are respected by students & guests.
  • Maintain the upkeep of our premium site & facilities.
  • Deliver solutions to any issues or challenges that may arise.
  • Be a point of contact for any potential incidents or emergencies that occur onsite.
  • Ensure waste management areas adhere to health & safety regulations.
    • Addressing/cleaning/tidying/reorganising as required.
  • Record and manage each studio clean using a smartphone/tablet:
    • Photograph each studio prior to and after cleaning.
  • Report any concerning behaviour of students that could indicate a welfare concern.
  • Monitor cleaning stock levels and communicate needs to the Assistant Residence Manager or Residence Manager.
    • Assist in ordering stock to maintain appropriate inventory.
  • Follow "Control of Substances Hazardous to Health" (COSHH) regulations to protect health and safety when using cleaning chemicals.

Requirements

Professional Experience:

  • A well-versed housekeeping professional with experience in large, multi-room residence facilities such as:
    • Accommodation buildings
    • Hotels
    • Hospitals
  • Technologically astute to support our various operating systems and software.
  • Good understanding of COSHH regulations and practices.

Personal Characteristics:

  • Ability to operate in a multi-cultural environment, welcoming colleagues and residents from diverse cultural, religious, and national backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication skills (English proficiency required; multilingual skills welcomed).
  • Adaptability, creativity, and positivity.
  • Resilience to navigate unexpected situations effectively.
  • Able to carry out tasks involving extended periods of standing and repetitive movements, with flexibility for reasonable adjustments.

Flexibility:

  • Facilities are open to residents 24 hours per day, 356 days per year, including bank/religious holidays.
  • While time off during holidays and religious breaks is accommodated where possible, flexibility is imperative to ensure continuous service.
