Job Description

Under the general guidance of the Executive Housekeeper and the Assistant Housekeeping Manager, the Housekeeping Supervisor will assist in the smooth running and efficient operation of the housekeeping department including hotel rooms, laundry and uniform, public spaces, colleague areas

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To maintain the highest standards of cleanliness in the hotel rooms, public areas and colleagues’ facilities by inspecting all rooms, and other areas
  • To allocate work to the housekeeping team by preparing daily section sheets and informing room attendants of rooms they service and any special requests from guests.
  • Open and close housekeeping department shifts and ensure effective shift handover.
  • To report any maintenance issues and follow up as necessary.
  • To ensure all guest requests, queries and complaints are dealt with within a timely manner, ensuring the housekeeping management is informed.
  • To ensure that all supplies and furniture are correctly stored and that all storage areas are clean and secure. To report low stock levels to management.
  • To check after guest departure the condition of the rooms ensuring all necessary work is reported.
  • To complete inspection checklist of all assigned rooms and areas.
  • To maintain a current and thorough knowledge of all housekeeping systems.
  • To assist in planning and controlling Preventative Cleaning, Weekly/Monthly project schedules of rooms and public areas and ensure they are executed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • To control distribution and collection of keys and housekeeping equipment.
  • To perform general administrative tasks as and when required such as record keeping and filing.
  • To induct and train new colleagues and agency team members to ensure that they are fully aware of the standards of performance, including health and safety requirements.
  • To undertake on the job training with colleagues in order to maintain standards.
  • To bring to the attention of the management any poor performance of misconduct issues.
  • Lead and performance manage the room and public area attendants and porters, ensuring that appraisals and relevant training/development activities are undertaken.
  • To administer the Lost Property procedure.
  • To assist room and public area attendants, porters with their duties as and when required.
  • To comply with all relevant internal rules, policy and procedures, including those relating to Health and Safety, Data Protection etc.

Qualifications

  • Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment and have a high-level attention to detail.
  • Maintain positive and productive working relationships with other team members and departments.
  • Ability to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork.
  • Must be able to stand or walk a minimum eight-hour shift.
  • Must be able to twist, tow (push or pull), reach, bend, climb and carry objects as necessary.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be able to work inside and outside at all times of the year as needed, based upon business volumes.
  • Excellent written & spoken English.
  • Intermediate understanding of computer systems such as: (Opera Cloud, Unifocus Property Management System Property Management System, Adaco, Fourth Hospitality, Outlook and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Good commercial awareness including the ability to plan and work within an agreed budget.
  • Being able to work under pressure.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Being able to bring out the best of people.
