Housekeeping Team Leader

Housekeeping Supervisor | Housekeeping | Spire Yale Hospital, Wrexham

Full-time | Permanent | 37.5 hours | £25,956 per annum plus excellent benefits

Spire Yale Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Housekeeping Team Supervisor to join our dedicated Housekeeping team.

In this important role, you will support the Hotel Services Manager by supervising the day-to-day housekeeping service and ensuring that the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control are maintained throughout the hospital.

You will lead by example, supporting and coordinating the housekeeping team to provide a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our patients, visitors, and colleagues.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day activities of the housekeeping team, ensuring that all allocated areas are cleaned to the required standards.
  • Organise rotas and allocate duties to ensure appropriate housekeeping cover in line with operational requirements.
  • Ensure rooms are prepared and ready for immediate occupation in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection prevention across clinical, non-clinical, and public areas.
  • Support the induction and ongoing training of housekeeping team members.
  • Monitor team performance, provide day-to-day guidance, and address any issues appropriately.
  • Manage holiday allocation, sickness cover, and absence records for the team.
  • Ensure timesheets and pay enhancements are recorded accurately and submitted within the required timescales.
  • Manage laundry levels, goods received, and housekeeping stores where appropriate.
  • Ensure the safe and effective management of waste and spillages in line with Spire policies.
  • Support the department in meeting budgetary targets through the effective use of resources.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Health and Safety, COSHH, hygiene, and infection control requirements.

Who we are looking for

  • Previous experience supervising or leading a team within a housekeeping, cleaning, hospitality, or similar environment.
  • A friendly, approachable, and customer-focused manner.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise workloads effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • The ability to work independently and identify when issues need to be escalated.
  • A flexible and collaborative approach to supporting colleagues and operational requirements.
  • The physical ability to use a range of cleaning equipment, which may involve bending, lifting, and reaching.
  • An understanding of Health and Safety, hygiene, and infection control standards.
  • The ability to handle sensitive matters professionally and maintain patient and hospital confidentiality.

Previous experience within a hospital or clinical environment would be advantageous, as would knowledge of COSHH regulations and infection control procedures. Full in-house training will be provided in areas including COSHH, manual handling, infection control, and Health and Safety.

Working hours

Shifts can cover any day of the week, days, and evenings, to fit the needs of the business.

Flexibility will be required to support the needs of the Housekeeping department and ensure appropriate cover is maintained.
