The Role Outline: Your Shift at a Glance
Your focus is to lead our housekeeping team on a day-to-day, hands-on basis, making sure every guest room and public area is pristine. You are the operational engine on the floor, stepping in to support the team during peak times, running detailed quality checks, and keeping morale high. This role is all about driving real-time results, maintaining a sharp eye on standards, and ensuring a fantastic guest experience on every single shift.
Why Village?
At Village, we do hospitality a little differently. We are all about personality, genuine connections, and creating great experiences for our guests and each other. That is why we back our teams to be themselves, take ownership, learn new skills, and grow their careers.
Previous experience is great, but your attitude and energy matter much more to us. If you are friendly, positive, love working with people, and enjoy being part of a busy team, we will give you all the support, training, and opportunities you need. Because it really does take a Village.
How The Village Thrives
We live our culture through four simple commitments:
- We Can & We Do: We show up to make a genuine difference and do fantastic work everyday, with purpose. We drive a "right first time" culture to minimise delays and deliver exceptional rooms.
- We Will: Treat each other with respect and dignity. No ego, no drama. We try our best, look out for each other, and work closely with Front Office and Maintenance to resolve issues quickly.
- We Care: We care about our impact on guests, the community, and each other. We provide hands-on training, support our new starters, and step in to help the team whenever needed.
Your Shift: What You’ll Actually Be Doing
As our Housekeeping Team Leader, you are leading from the floor. We trust you to handle:
- Hands-On Leadership: Working alongside Room Attendants, delivering clear shift briefings, and allocating tasks to ensure workloads are balanced and achievable.
- Quality Control: Conducting detailed room inspections before releasing them to guests, providing real-time feedback, and correcting any issues immediately.
- Commercial Hustle: Controlling linen distribution and stock supplies to prevent waste, alongside monitoring team productivity against time targets.
- Communication: Keeping the property management system updated accurately, communicating room statuses, and escalating any operational challenges swiftly.
- Shift Safety: Ensuring everyone follows health, safety, and COSHH procedures, and reporting any hazards or faults immediately.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
