Overview
Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Housing Advice Officer to join our newly restructured team. In this role, you will provide a statutory homelessness and housing advice service, focusing on preventing homelessness and conducting statutory homelessness assessments. You will work closely with senior officers and managers to deliver an efficient, front-line service that aligns with the Council’s vision, core values, and strategic priorities.

About The Role
As a Housing Advice Officer, you will deliver a comprehensive, customer-focused, and high-quality service tailored for a diverse client group, including vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals and households. Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting thorough housing needs assessments
- Identifying appropriate actions to prevent homelessness which could include:
- Negotiation with landlords & families
- Including home visits to engage with families to assess living conditions
- Negotiation for family members to remain at home
- Making applications to the county court
- Issuing decision letters
- Fundraising to charities to clear rent arrears
Any-Desk
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.
About You
We are looking for someone who can work proactively with colleagues and other stakeholders to increase efficiency, improve service delivery, and embed multi-agency working. You will also assist with strategy and policy development and support innovative ways of working to foster a continuous improvement mindset within the service.
