About the role
We’re looking for an organised, customer-focused Housing Assistant who will join our Housing Management team on a 12-month secondment.
This is a varied and fast-paced role where you’ll provide essential administrative and customer-facing support to our housing management teams. You’ll play an important part in helping customers access housing services, supporting tenancy management processes and ensuring our teams have the information and administrative support they need to deliver an excellent service.
No two days will be the same. You’ll deal with customers by phone and face to face, support housing officers with tenancy-related activity, maintain accurate records and systems, and help coordinate the day-to-day running of the team.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working with people, is highly organised and thrives in a busy environment.
What we are looking for:
- We’re looking for someone who can combine excellent customer service with strong organisation and administration skills.
- Experience of working with customers and providing a positive customer service experience.
- Experience of working in a busy, varied administrative environment.
- The ability to organise and prioritise a demanding workload and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to listen, empathise and support customers effectively.
- Strong IT skills and confidence using a range of software applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Experience of working with different IT systems; experience of housing management systems would be an advantage.
- A basic understanding of social housing tenancy management processes.
- The ability to provide basic housing advice or identify when a customer needs to be referred to a specialist officer.
- An understanding of confidentiality, data protection and the importance of handling customer information securely.
- The ability to work collaboratively and flexibly, responding positively to changing priorities and competing demands.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
