Salary Band B - £25,945 (includes RLW uplift) - £28,552

Our dedicated Housing Team have a strong track record of helping customers and partners prevent homelessness across our districts, and we are now looking for a proactive Housing Administration Assistant to make a real difference.

In this role you will provide administrative support to the Housing and Temporary Accommodation (TA) teams. The role supports a multi-agency approach to delivering early help, including sustainable housing, housing benefit, tenancy support, debt prevention and financial independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a comprehensive administrative service to the Housing and Temporary Accommodation teams, acting as a first point of contact for customers, colleagues and partner organisations.
  • Manage correspondence, records, data and reports, organise meetings and take minutes, maintain accurate electronic systems, and ensure information is handled securely and in line with GDPR and Council policies.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to support the Council's Early Help approach and ensure customers receive a timely and effective service.
  • Provide administrative support for the management of temporary and supported accommodation, assisting with customer enquiries, placements and planned move-on.
  • This will include maintaining performance information and statutory compliance records, supporting health and safety requirements, raising purchase orders and invoices, and undertaking related financial administration.
  • Manage and prioritise your own workload, maintain high standards of accuracy and confidentiality, and communicate confidently with external organisations.

What We're Looking For

  • Organised, reliable and customer-focused administrator with excellent communication and attention to detail.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and electronic record systems.
  • Able to manage competing priorities and work accurately with sensitive information.
  • Experience of working in a housing, local authority or customer-focused environment would be beneficial, but we are equally interested in your ability to work collaboratively, provide a professional service to customers and partners, and take ownership of your workload.
  • Comfortable communicating with a range of people, both internally and externally, and have a positive, flexible approach to supporting a busy team.
