Social Housing Administrator
Avalon is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Social Housing Administrator for a 3-month contract with a strong chance of extension. Based in Leicester, this role pays £28,000 per annum equivalent and provides essential operational and administrative support across our busy housing operations team.
In this fast-paced position, you will act as a key point of contact for tenants, local authorities, and internal colleagues, assisting with tenancy support, repairs processing, and database management. This is an excellent opportunity for a housing professional to apply their sector expertise to ensure smooth daily operations and high levels of customer satisfaction.
Key Duties:
- Serve as a primary administrative contact for tenants, handling general enquiries, tenancy queries, and repair requests via telephone, email, and post.
- Process tenancy documentation, including lettings paperwork, tenancy agreements, terminations, and sign-up packs.
- Assist housing officers with tenancy management tasks, log anti-social behaviour (ASB) reports, and schedule scheme visits or inspections.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date tenant records, compliance data, and property information on the housing management software.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance appointments, issuing works orders to contractors and tracking jobs through to completion.
- Support the processing of Housing Benefit and Universal Credit administration, tracking incoming payments and updating tenant accounts.
- Prepare meeting agendas, take detailed minutes, and compile periodic operational performance reports for management.

Requirements:
- Experience: Essential prior experience working in an administrative role within a housing association, local authority, or supported housing provider.
- Knowledge: Understanding of general social housing administration, tenancy management processes, and basic housing benefits systems.
- IT Skills: Strong proficiency across Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) and practical experience navigating housing management databases.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an empathetic approach when dealing with vulnerable residents or complex enquiries.
- Organisation: High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain data accuracy, and meet strict operational deadlines.
- Core Attributes: Highly organised, proactive, and committed to delivering high-quality, customer-focused services.
