Salary: £41,869 gross starting salary per annum

About the Role
Do you have sharp attention to detail, a knack for hands-on repairs, and a dedication to keeping homes in excellent working order? The U.S. Embassy London is looking for a Housing Inspector to join our General Services Office (GSO) and help ensure our diplomatic community lives in safe, well-maintained homes across the city.

What You'll Do:
- Be the Property Expert – Conduct technical inspections of potential, new, and existing homes in our London housing pool, checking structural, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Solve Problems on the Spot – Handle basic maintenance and small repairs (unblocking sinks, fixing door handles, replacing fuses) and support Real Property Assistants with technical guidance.
- Ensure Quality Work – Escort contractors for bigger repairs and verify the work meets our high standards.
- Guide New Arrivals – Walk new residents through their homes, explain heating/cooling systems, and brief them on essential safety features like gas shut-offs and fire extinguishers.
- Protect Our Housing Pool – Perform pre- and post-departure inspections to catch damage early and keep properties in top shape.

What We're Looking For:
- 3 years of experience inspecting, appraising, or overseeing residential properties or construction/renovation projects, including 1 year of practical experience in construction or residential maintenance
- Completion of secondary school
- Good working knowledge of English (speaking, reading, and writing)
- A valid, full manual UK/EU/EEA driver's license (Category B)
