How you'll make a difference

As a Housing Officer, you will manage a portfolio of quality private sector accommodation across South Gloucestershire for people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, while supporting tenants to sustain their tenancies and achieve positive housing outcomes.

What you will be doing

It will be your responsibility to manage all aspects of property management, including arranging lettings, monitoring rents, coordinating repairs and maintenance, carrying out property inspections and liaising with landlords.

  • You will maintain regular contact with tenants, identifying any concerns at an early stage and signposting them to appropriate services to help sustain successful tenancies.
  • Promoting the service to prospective landlords, you will help to increase the supply of private sector accommodation and expand the existing property portfolio.
  • Working closely with landlords and colleagues across the HomeChoice Service, you will identify suitable properties to meet the housing needs of tenants.
  • Undertaking a range of administrative duties, you will ensure tenancy agreements and all associated documentation are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • You will visit tenants in their homes, sometimes at short notice, to provide support, monitor tenancy arrangements and address any issues.

What we need from you

We are looking for someone with practical experience of housing management, with a good understanding of the challenges and opportunities involved in delivering effective housing services.

  • It is essential that you have experience of supporting vulnerable people and working with diverse communities, demonstrating an inclusive and customer-focused approach to service delivery.
  • You will have knowledge of landlord and tenant responsibilities, including tenancy management, eviction procedures and relevant housing legislation.
  • Given the nature of this role, you will be an effective communicator, able to build positive relationships with tenants, landlords and partner organisations.
  • You must have strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, make sound decisions and find practical solutions to support successful tenancy outcomes.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
