We are recruiting a Housing Support Outreach Worker (Bank Staff) for Hillbrook House to assist the Housing Support Team, primarily by transporting residents safely to and from appointments. The role combines driving, resident welfare, vehicle management, safeguarding, and collaborative support within the organisation’s housing services.
You will be reporting to the Housing Support Manager within the Housing service area, the role is based at Hillbrook House.
The postholder must follow safeguarding, health and safety, data protection, staff handbook, and organisational policies; maintain compliance with UK GDPR; support residents’ rights and entitlements; and work positively with residents, colleagues, housing staff, social workers, local authorities, police, NHS services, charities, and other professionals.
Responsibilities include transporting residents using the YMCA vehicle or occasionally a personal vehicle, protecting passengers and other road users, completing daily and weekly vehicle checks, performing basic maintenance, reporting defects and incidents, maintaining cleanliness and roadworthiness, refuelling, and keeping accurate usage records.

Additional requirements:
- A Category D1 licence
- First Aid qualification
- Recent safeguarding training
- Local-area knowledge
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or bank holidays
- Travel across locations
- A satisfactory Enhanced with Children’s barred list DBS disclosure
Key Responsibilities
- To take residents to and from appointments primarily using the YMCA vehicle, or on occasion your own vehicle.
- To be responsible for the safety, comfort and welfare of residents and staff while driving and be confident with lone-working policies.
- To adhere to YMCA East Surrey’s Safeguarding policies and procedure and attend relevant safeguarding training.
- To conduct driver’s daily and weekly vehicle checks, and to conduct basic maintenance.
- To report any vehicle defects, faults, incidents, and accidents.
- To refuel vehicles as required, and to maintain accurate records of vehicle usage.
- To work within the constraints and guidelines as set out in the staff handbook and the policies and procedures of YMCA East Surrey.
- To undertake any other associated duties as required by Housing management.
- Represent YMCA with professionalism and compassion, always maintaining a positive and inclusive public image.
- Participate in training and taking responsibility for maintaining the knowledge and skills required for this role.
- Take responsibility for your own health and safety and that of others, reporting any risk promptly.
