The Housing Registrations Team within City of York Council are looking to appoint a Housing Registrations Advisor.
The post holder will be the first point of contact for customers applying for social housing. They will be responsible for giving realistic housing advice, discussing with applicants all housing options available to them, processing and assessing applications in line with the City of York Council allocation policy.
The post holder will be responsible for:
- Advertising, shortlisting, and allocating vacant properties across the City of York Council area.
- Working closely with other registered social providers.
- Ensuring all associated recording and reporting systems are kept accurately up to date.

Customers may be anxious and under a lot of stress, therefore successful applicants must have excellent interpersonal skills to deal with people in person or on the phone. You will be capable of working on your own initiative as well as under the guidance of the housing registrations manager.
Essential Requirements:
- Knowledge of housing law.
- Ability to use specialist IT systems.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to demonstrate that you are sympathetic and firm.
- Ability to cope in situations, which can be stressful as well as rewarding.

The duties of this post require the postholder to undertake a basic Criminal Record check (unspent convictions only) via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
