Overview of the Housing Solicitor Position
If you're a housing solicitor who enjoys advocacy, managing your own caseload, and being part of a collaborative team, this is an opportunity worth exploring.
You'll be joining a well-established housing provider at an exciting stage of growth and transformation. With a significant expansion of its housing portfolio planned over the coming years, the legal team is taking on increasingly varied and complex work. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and ambitious Housing Solicitor to take on greater responsibility and work closely with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
The Housing Solicitor will be responsible for providing high-quality legal advice and representation across landlord and tenant matters such as:
- Disrepair matters
- Tenancy breaches
- Tenancy Fraud
- Unlawful occupation
- Failed succession
- Possession proceedings (including rent arrears and anti-social behaviour cases)
- Leasehold matters

You will also be responsible for:
- Managing a paralegal and supporting and assisting in the supervision of junior staff as required
- Representing clients in court, tribunals, and other legal proceedings
- Monitoring a legal inbox and providing legal advice to clients across the business
- Ensuring accurate time recording and file management in accordance with internal procedures
Experience/qualifications required for the Housing Solicitor position
- Must possess a clean and current Practicing Certificate
- Proven experience managing a diverse caseload across landlord and tenant matters and knowledge of housing legislation, case law, and the Civil Procedure Rules
- Demonstrable advocacy experience and strong drafting skills
- A client-focused approach
- Enthusiastic, proactive, and committed to providing excellent service
