Are you an experienced housing professional with a passion for preventing homelessness and supporting customers through some of the most challenging times in their lives?
We are looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and motivated Housing Solutions Team Leader to join our Housing Solutions Service. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team delivering housing advice, homelessness prevention, relief and statutory homelessness services, helping customers access the support they need to secure and sustain suitable accommodation.
About the Role
As a Housing Solutions Team Leader, you will lead, inspire and develop a team of Housing Solutions Officers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused services that make a real difference to people's lives. You will provide expert advice and guidance on complex homelessness cases, support sound decision-making, promote continuous improvement and work collaboratively with partners across the housing sector to achieve positive outcomes for customers.
You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with homelessness legislation and statutory guidance, driving service performance and quality standards, and contributing to the strategic development of homelessness prevention initiatives. This role offers an excellent opportunity to influence service delivery, champion best practice and support the Council's commitment to preventing homelessness and improving housing outcomes for residents.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, inspire and develop a team of Housing Solutions Officers
- Provide expert advice and guidance on complex homelessness cases
- Support sound decision-making and promote continuous improvement

Requirements
- Motivated and customer-focused housing professional
- Experience of working within homelessness, housing solutions, social housing, or a similar customer-facing environment
- Strong understanding of homelessness legislation, housing options and homelessness prevention
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Experience of leading, supervising and developing staff
- Ability to support and motivate a team to deliver high-quality services
- Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities within a fast-paced environment
- Experienced in working collaboratively with internal departments, partner agencies and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for customers
- Passionate about delivering excellent services and improving outcomes for people experiencing housing difficulties and homelessness

Ideal Candidate
- Previous supervisory experience including conducting and administration of 1-2-1’s with team members
- Experience of working in a housing related environment, providing service to customers
- Recent and relevant experience of dealing directly with members of the public and understanding customer care issues
- Grade A-C in English / Maths or equivalent
- Willing to work towards or hold appropriate housing qualification or equivalent at Level 2
- Ability to supervise and motivate a team to meet agreed targets and achieve both short- and medium-term goals, be innovative and creative and able to demand result and high performance from others
- Extensive working knowledge of Parts VI & VII of the Housing Acts 1985 & 1996, & Housing Act 2002 as they relate to Homelessness and the Homeless Reduction Act 2017
- Knowledge of Health and Safety issues and how Health and Safety impacts in the workplace
- Effective project management skills where resources, risk and project management tools have been used effectively
- Committed to the Council’s Core Values and Vision
- Hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle
