We are seeking a Housing Support Worker to help people experiencing homelessness and complex needs maintain safe, stable accommodation in Middlesbrough.

Position: Housing Support Worker
Location: Middlesbrough, North East
Salary: £26,436 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Closing Date: 13th September 2026

About The Role

Join Depaul UK as a Housing Support Worker and help people experiencing homelessness and complex needs build greater stability and independence.

You will manage a caseload of clients, providing practical and emotional support to help them maintain their accommodation, develop independent living skills and work towards their individual goals.

This is a varied, community-based role combining direct support with practical tenancy and housing responsibilities. You do not need to be an experienced Housing Officer, but you will need experience supporting vulnerable people and the confidence to manage your own caseload. Training and support will be provided to develop your housing management knowledge.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Supporting people with complex needs to maintain their accommodation and build independence
  • Providing regular visits, practical support, advice and life-skills guidance
  • Helping Clients Manage Rent, Benefits, Arrears And Tenancy Responsibilities
  • Coordinating repairs and responding to property, landlord and contractor queries
  • Responding appropriately to safeguarding, anti-social behaviour and tenancy concerns
  • Working with statutory and voluntary sector partners to create effective packages of support
  • Maintaining accurate client, housing and case management records

About You

You will have experience working with people who may have complex needs, including homelessness, mental health needs, substance misuse, domestic abuse or offending histories.

You Will Also Need

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
  • Confidence working independently and managing competing priorities
  • Good IT and record-keeping skills
  • An understanding of risk management and information sharing
  • A willingness to develop your knowledge of housing and tenancy management
