Salary: £27,000–£29,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: Full Time, Permanent (37.5 hours per week)

About The Role

Rotherwood Cares are currently recruiting on behalf of one of our valued clients for a Housing Support Worker to join their established supported housing service in Blackburn on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced support worker who is passionate about empowering vulnerable adults to achieve independence and improve their quality of life.

The service supports individuals with a range of needs, including mental health, homelessness, complex needs, substance misuse, learning disabilities, autism, and domestic abuse. This is a rewarding yet challenging role, requiring someone who is resilient, compassionate, and able to build positive relationships with service users.

The Role

As a Housing Support Worker, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing practical and emotional support to residents within a supported housing environment.
  • Managing a caseload of service users and delivering person-centred support plans.
  • Supporting individuals with complex needs, mental health challenges, homelessness, and substance misuse issues.
  • Encouraging independence and helping service users develop the skills needed to sustain their tenancies.
  • Assisting with housing-related matters, including benefits, budgeting, appointments and accessing community services.
  • Building positive and professional relationships with service users.
  • Completing support plans, risk assessments, daily records and case notes.
  • Promoting safeguarding and maintaining a safe living environment.
  • Responding appropriately to challenging situations and behaviours.
  • Working alongside external agencies and partner organisations to achieve positive outcomes for service users.

About You

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Have previous experience working within supported housing, homelessness, mental health, or complex needs services.
  • Have experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviours and multiple support needs.
  • Are confident managing a varied caseload and working independently.
  • Can build positive relationships and motivate individuals towards independent living.
  • Have excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Understand safeguarding, professional boundaries and risk management.
  • Are resilient, proactive and passionate about making a positive difference.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience within supported housing or housing support.
  • Experience supporting individuals with complex needs, mental health and/or substance misuse.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations in a calm and professional manner.
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to Work in the UK.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.
