Viridien / CGG is recruiting for the role of HPC Engineer. The role provides senior Linux support within a global HPC and Digital Platform team, combining advanced system administration with delivery of scalable compute platforms. It involves troubleshooting complex issues, leading technical delivery, and working across regions on high-performance infrastructure.

What you’ll do

  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex Linux issues and provide expert troubleshooting.
  • Lead deployment of new technologies and compute platforms and manage handover through Jira workflows.
  • Scout, evaluate and pilot emerging technologies, including proof of concepts focused on scalability and supportability.
  • Manage technical projects from scoping and planning through deployment, documentation and handover.
  • Coordinate with global sites on installations, upgrades and infrastructure enhancements.
  • Optimise Linux systems for performance, availability and compliance through proactive monitoring.
  • Use Jira Service Management and ITSM tools to manage escalations, track issues and document changes.
  • Provide 24×7 on-call support on rotation for incidents and maintenance.

What they’re looking for

  • A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a related field.
  • Several years of Linux administration experience, ideally in an HPC environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and IT service management skills.
  • Proficiency with automation and configuration tools such as Ansible, Puppet, GitLab or Terraform.
  • Experience with Docker and container orchestration.
  • Scripting skills in Bash, Python or Perl.
  • Strong project and time management, and communication skills.
  • A proactive, adaptable mindset with a passion for learning.
