Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Construction Project Manager to lead the mechanical erection activities within the Turbine Hall scope (Units 1 & 2) of the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant project.
The Turbine Hall houses the equipment that converts steam generated by the nuclear reactor into electricity. The mechanical scope includes major equipment such as condensers, static equipment, main and auxiliary pumps, air compressors, and associated balance-of-plant systems.
Reporting directly to the Overall Construction Manager, you will act as the technical, organizational, and contractual focal point for the complete mechanical package, ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient execution of site activities.
Working closely with Construction, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and Contract Management teams, you will play a key role in maintaining project momentum, resolving technical issues, coordinating interfaces, and driving construction performance.
Responsibilities
Construction Engineering & Method Statements
- Assess the maturity and readiness of construction documentation prior to execution.
- Review equipment installation sequences, access studies, lifting plans, and logistics strategies.
- Evaluate and challenge construction methodologies proposed by subcontractors.
- Validate mechanical erection procedures, welding methods, rigging approaches, and NDT requirements.
- Ensure safe and efficient installation strategies that maximize productivity and quality.
Civil & Structural Interfaces
- Participate in joint inspections and walkdowns to validate civil handovers.
- Verify installation readiness of foundations, structures, anchor bolts, embedded plates, and penetrations.
- Identify interface discrepancies and develop practical mitigation solutions.
- Manage tolerance assessments and technical resolutions for non-compliant conditions.
Site Coordination & Construction Management
- Coordinate activities across Mechanical, Piping, Structural Steel, Electrical & Instrumentation, and Civil disciplines.
- Manage co-activity planning and site logistics to avoid disruptions.
- Coordinate lifting operations and shared resource utilization, including crane planning.
- Resolve operational bottlenecks and interface conflicts during equipment installation.
Subcontractor Management
- Monitor subcontractor manpower loading and resource planning.
- Track productivity, progress, and schedule performance against project milestones.
- Identify execution risks and implement corrective or recovery actions where required.
- Ensure subcontractors comply with contractual, quality, and safety requirements.
Quality & Contract Management
- Lead the resolution and close-out strategy for:
- Field Service Instructions (FSIs)
- Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
- Punch items
- Define and approve appropriate corrective actions and rework strategies.
- Monitor scope boundaries, variation orders, claims, and contractual obligations.
- Ensure proper management of quality documentation, inspection records, and mechanical completion dossiers.

Cost, Schedule & Performance Reporting
- Monitor and report performance through SQCD indicators:

- Track construction progress and achievement of key milestones.
- Validate progress for subcontractor payment applications.
- Support cost control and change management activities throughout the mechanical package.
REQUIREMENTS
- Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
- Experience in mechanical construction project management or site technical management.
- Experience within highly regulated or large-scale industrial environments such as: Nuclear, Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Energy Infrastructure, Major EPC Projects
- Hands-on experience with heavy mechanical installation activities.
- Fluent English is essential for working within the Hinkley Point C project environment.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Heavy rotating equipment installation (turbines, generators, shaft lines, condensers)
- Mechanical alignment and tolerance control
- Welding and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
- Heavy lifting and rigging operations
- Civil, structural, and mechanical interfaces
- Construction sequencing and site execution planning
- Leadership & Commercial Skills
- Strong technical authority and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to challenge subcontractors and drive performance improvements.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience managing contractual matters, variations, and claims.
- Delivery-focused mindset with strong organizational capabilities.

Dans le cadre de nos activités sur les sites nucléaires civils au Royaume‑Uni, nous recherchons des Responsables de Projet Construction pour soutenir nos activités sur le chantier du projet Hinkley Point C et accompagner la construction du Turbine Hall des Unités 1 et 2.
En tant que Responsible de Projet Construction, vous serez le point focal sur site, responsable de la coordination contractuelle, administrative et organisationnelle d’un lot de travaux (mécanique, tuyauterie, charpente métallique).
En étroite collaboration avec le Construction Manager et le Contract Manager, vous assurerez une communication efficace entre les équipes chantier, les différentes fonctions du projet, les sous‑traitants et les parties prenantes afin de résoudre les points bloquants affectant la production.
Vous agirez comme pair du Construction Manager, responsable de l’exécution du périmètre et de la gestion de la supervision et de la main‑d’œuvre.
Rôles & Responsabilités
1. Support Contractuel & Administratif
- Suivre les obligations contractuelles en coordination avec le Construction Manager et le Contract Manager.
- Préparer, soutenir et suivre la correspondance contractuelle, les modifications, réclamations, non‑conformités et notifications formelles.
- Gérer la documentation projet en soutien aux équipes d’exécution (procédures, plans, rapports, dossiers qualité).
- Soutenir la préparation des audits internes et externes.

2. Coordination Projet & Interfaces
- Être l’interface quotidienne entre les équipes chantier, les fonctions projet, les sous‑traitants et les partenaires du projet.
- Interagir avec le client sur demande concernant les interfaces, l’avancement, le reporting et les points bloquants.
- Préparer et participer aux réunions de coordination, revues de planning et discussions sur la performance du projet.
- Consolider et communiquer les informations clés (avancement, risques, écarts).
- Développer et optimiser les processus pour répondre aux défis du chantier.
3. Reporting & Analyse
- Produire les rapports hebdomadaires et mensuels d’avancement incluant KPIs, risques, et écarts coût/délai.
- Suivre les tendances du projet et proposer des actions correctives lorsque nécessaire.
- Maintenir les tableaux de bord et outils de suivi projet selon l’approche SQDC (Sécurité, Qualité, Délais & Coûts).
4. Administration & Suivi Financier
- Préparer les éléments pour la facturation, le suivi des coûts et les paiements des sous‑traitants.
- Soutenir les achats : demandes d’achat, engagements, suivi des commandes.
- Contribuer au suivi budgétaire avec les équipes projet.
Compétences
- Expérience avérée en gestion de projet de construction, industriel ou d’infrastructure.
- Solide compréhension de la gestion contractuelle (EPC, sous‑traitance, modifications).
- Maîtrise des outils de reporting et de gestion documentaire.
- Connaissance des aspects HSE(Hygyène, Sécurité & Environnement) et qualité sur sites industriels.
- Excellentes compétences en communication et coordination.
- Forte capacité d’analyse et sens de l’organisation.
- Aptitude à travailler dans un environnement dynamique avec de multiples parties prenantes.
- Capacité à évoluer dans un environnement matriciel, multiculturel et international.
- Rigueur, capacité à prioriser et à s’adapter à des environnements contraints en termes de délais. Maîtrise de la gestion de planning.
- Une expérience ou connaissance du secteur nucléaire ou d’un chantier de centrale serait un plus.
- Langue : anglais (courant).
