I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we're looking for
We are looking for an empathetic, detail-oriented HR Administrator with strong Excel skills to join our team. As a trusted point of contact across the organisation, you will combine exceptional interpersonal skills with absolute discretion when handling sensitive data. We need a resilient, approachable communicator who actively listens, delivers excellent customer service, and builds trust across every level of the business.
We welcome applications from anyone who can demonstrate the above. You may be looking for an apprenticeship to start in the next academic year, have completed your CIPD Level 3 and are looking for your first role in a supportive HR team, or you're looking for a role in a team where your organisational and administrative skills will shine, but whatever your story, you will be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in HR work.
As part of our interview process, in addition to meeting our candidates in person, we will be asking everyone to complete some practical assessments which may include a written and IT task. All candidates will have the opportunity to let us know if they require any adjustments to complete the whole interview process.
