We're looking for a motivated and highly organised HR Administrator Apprentice to join our HR team in Caerphilly. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience across all areas of HR while studying towards a CIPD qualification, fully funded and supported by the business.

Working alongside experienced HR professionals, you'll play a key role in supporting the employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding through to employee relations, payroll administration and HR data management. You'll also gain valuable experience supporting Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and developing your understanding of employment law and data protection.

This role is ideal for someone with strong administrative skills who is ready to take the next step into a professional HR career.

What You'll Be Doing

HR Administration

  • Acting as a first point of contact for HR queries and providing administrative support across the employee lifecycle.
  • Preparing employment documentation, maintaining employee records and supporting HR systems administration.
  • Coordinating onboarding, leaver, absence and payroll-related processes.
  • Producing HR reports, supporting employee relations activities and assisting with HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Supporting Learning & Development administration, including training arrangements and new starter bookings.

Data Protection & Employee Data

  • Supporting the administration of Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), including maintaining trackers and monitoring deadlines.
  • Collating employee records and preparing information for disclosure and review.
  • Working with internal stakeholders to support GDPR-compliant responses.
  • Handling and maintaining sensitive employee data securely and confidentially in line with company policies and data protection requirements.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Previous experience in an HR administration, people administration or confidential business support role.
  • Experience of handling sensitive and confidential information with a high level of discretion.
  • Good understanding of HR administration processes across the employee lifecycle.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating DSARs, subject access requests, employee data requests or similar data protection processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
  • Confident user of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with HR colleagues, managers and other internal stakeholders.
  • Professional, calm and confidential approach when dealing with sensitive employee matters.

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and employee data protection principles.
  • Experience using HR information systems and electronic personnel file systems.
  • Experience supporting employee relations case administration, such as disciplinary, grievance, absence or performance processes.
  • CIPD Level 3 qualification or working towards a relevant HR qualification – Apprenticeship available to support your development for CIPD
  • Experience working in a multi-site, fast-paced or commercially focused organisation.
